Wants versus Wealth

I am still thinking about my stuff in storage. All that time spent shopping, all those credit card transactions, all the high expectations, all that money!! Overwhelming, especially the money aspect.

Allow me to quote from my book: Showing Up For The Golden Years

My money has to work for me, not me for it. Too bad for retail businesses—my money has been spoken for. It is not allowed to please every salesperson or manufacturer coming down the pike. I am strict but fair to my wallet. Spending decisions for me will always have to answer these questions:

If I spend this money will it further my sense of fulfillment?

Is this what I am about?

Do I need it so I can function?

Will I be less if I don’t have it?

Is it created in a sustainable way?

…. I will consider renting over buying, used over new, simplicity over clutter, local over out-of-state or imported every time!

….I am not talking about stopping spending, but about stopping useless spending that does not respect my deepest dreams and wishes.

Before you buy something new, ask yourself these questions:

When I am done with this

-Will it have gained or lost value?

-Will the Salvation Army or Goodwill accept it?

-Will it sell at a garage sale?

-Will I have to pay someone to haul it away?

My whisper for this day is:

For one week scrutinize every purchase, how to get rid of it when you are done with it, and dream about how this money that you saved can contribute to your wealth.
